HAVE A BLOG-FREE CHRISTMAS!

24/12/2012

We're absolutely convinced that all of you have got much better things to do on Christmas Eve than read the boss's bloke's rantings about life in our cafe in Cromer.  Correct?  Thought so.

So all we want to say here is that Ema and everyone at Breakers Cafe would like to wish all our customers and suppliers a very HAPPY CHRISTMAS, and say a big THANKS for your support over the past year.  We very much appreciate it.

We are closed on Christmas Day - the only day in the year that we are - but will be open again from 9:30am to 15:00pm on Wednesday.  So if you are taking part in Cromer's 11:00am Boxing Day swim, or just coming along to watch, why not take a warming break - at Breakers?

And with that we will leave you in peace until the new year.

Christmas Menu at Breakers

11/12/2012

Last time we said we’d tell you about our plans to make sure we are one of the best places to eat in Cromer this Christmas.

So what will you find on the Christmas menu at Breakers Café in Cromer?   Here goes:

Christmas turkey lunch: homemade Yorkshire puddings, homemade stuffing, pigs in blankets, swede & carrot mash, roast potatoes, cranberry sauce & gravy; Christmas cake; Christmas pudding with cream; mince pies; chocolate Yule log with cream; homemade chocolate truffles; homemade nut roast; homemade turkey, cranberry & stuffing pie; turkey & stuffing baguette; kids meal deals including a homemade Christmas cookie, and a selection box/sweets with every kids meal deal.

Phew!  Full to bursting yet, just at the thought of it?  And, at this expensive time of year, it won’t tear a hole in your pocket either.  The Christmas Meal Deal (turkey Christmas lunch, homemade dessert, and a regular tea or coffee) is just £9.95, while the kids meal deal only £4.25.  And you can treat yourself and your family to all this for 10 whole days from Saturday 15th December until we close - for our annual day off - on Christmas Eve.  How's that for good value?

Good food, good value, good fun - so why not take a Christmas break, at Breakers?

(By the way, Laws - our IT guru, remember him? - was a bit put out not to be consulted on this particular blog – not enough IT in it, he said.  Well, we had to put him firmly in his place.  At the end of the day we are a family café – he may be brilliant at designing a web site or facebook page for you (he is actually!) but he knows nothing about the price of pigs in blankets.)

November Notes

1/12/2012

Our quietest month of the year is normally February, with November coming a close second. But we’ve had a very busy month in our little café in Cromer (obviously as a result of the new blog) although for just about the first time ever we nearly had to shut up shop last Sunday.  The boss was nowhere to be seen as each of her boys had a birthday that weekend; Ash went  down with a bug; Di was involved in a car accident and messed up her elbow; and Mel’s daughter got ill too.  Our only hope of survival lay with Samara and Rae, who both cancelled their days off at ridiculously short notice and came in and cooked and saved the day.  Big thanks, you two.  You think you’ve got plenty of built-in back-up, and then suddenly find  that you’re actually walking a tight-rope.

More IT stuff.  We’re all getting very excited about the imminent introduction of our new till with  its flat touch screen.  Laws (our  IT guru, not our butler – “Laws!   More drinks in the living room -  now!”) says that we need to select the font we use with great care.   “Comedy typeface=comedy company”*  he advises, but he’s probably a bit miffed that we didn’t buy it from him, and also gets very opinionated after a Tia Maria or three.  Irritating as it may be,  he’s rarely wrong though; so after an evening spent making homemade cakes, scones and cookies and devising new menus and meal deals for the business, the  boss is now also poring over font charts.

And Laws thinks we should be on TripAdvisor so, guess what?  Yes, we’re now on TripAdvisor.  So if  any of you who have visited our Cromer eatery would like to give us a review please go to
http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Restaurant_Review-g609059-d3660065-Reviews-Breakers_Cafe-Cromer_Norfolk_East_Anglia_England.html and tell us about how it was for  you.  Criticism as well as kudos,  please, as it’s only by listening to both from our customers that we can improve  what we do.

December is already here, so next week we’ll tell you about our plans to ensure that we are one of the best places to eat in Cromer at Christmas.

*That’s not precisely what he said, but we’re a family café.

The boss’s bloke.  That’s him on the left in the photo, and the boss is the lovely lady seated on the right. Lucky chap.
